On sending troops to war:

At the time of this writing, the United States has more than 140,000 troops in Iraq. Those who support the war argue that sending more soldiers and more money will help bring a swift victory, while those who oppose the war say that there are already too many Americans fighting—and dying—in Iraq. Elizabeth knew how controversial it was to dispatch troops to foreign theaters of war and carefully analyzed the situation before sending additional troops when she was advised to do so, saying:

“I will see an account of those already sent over before I yield my assent to the sending over of any more.”
